Starting on June 30th the Arena di Verona Opera Festival will be staging Turandot. For the first performance of this Giacomo Puccini opera, with libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni, the tenor Gregory Kunde has been chosen to sing Calaf. Stage production is by Franco Zeffirelli, with costumes by the Oscar-winning Emi Wada, and at this first performance conducting will be by Maestro Daniel Oren. That evening Gregory Kunde will be sharing the stage with other greats from the international opera scene, such as Anna Pirozzi (Turandot), Antonello Ceron (Altoum), Giorgio Giuseppini (Timur) and Vittoria Yeo (Liù), among others.
