From September 14th to 17th the Royal Opera House Muscat will be staging Aida, one of Verdi’s most famous operas. In the soloist roles we will find great performers like Gregory Kunde. The American tenor will give life to Radamés, Captain of the Guard and in love with Aida, the Ethiopian princess. The orchestra and chorus of the Teatro Regio Torino will be conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, who won an International Opera Award in 2016, just as Kunde did. On stage with Kunde, in the primary roles, will be the soprano Kristin Lewis (Aida), the mezzosoprano Anita Rachvelishvili (Amneris) and the baritone Ambrosio Maestri (Amonasro). This production of Verdi’s four-act opera, with Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni, is by the Teatro Regio de Torino. It will be directed by the highly-regarded William Friedkin.
