Otello, Verdi’s penultimate work and one of the greatest titles in operatic history, with libretto by Arrigo Boito based on Shakespeare’s play Othello,will be at the Baluarte on January 31stand February 3rd.Gregory Kunde will be performing the title role.The American tenor has given life to the Moor of Venice, the one by Verdi and also the one by Rossini, in theatres such as the Royal Opera House of London, the Fenice of Venice, the Teatro Real of Madrid, the Scala of Milan and the Liceu of Barcelona.
Kunde returns to Pamplona to sing in the same theatre in which he gave a recital in October of 2016 with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra (OSN) and the conductor Ramón Tebar, with whom he had previously recorded the CD Vincerò.He will be performing with the OSN and Tebar on this occasion as well, in a production by the Teatro Principal de Palma.The cast also includes Svetlana Askenova (Desdémona), Ángel Ódena (Yago), Francisco Corujo (Cassio), Manuel de Diego (Roderigo), Jeroboám Tejera (Ludovico), Mireia Pintó (Emilia) and Gerard Farreras (Montano/a herald) and the Coro de la Asociación Gayarre Amigos, all under the stage direction of Alfonso Romero Mora.
